The razer's product line is nice, for me though. I'm just not sure with other brands. I have a friend who has the asus gaming headset but he hates it. I prefer razer because they have deep bass which is very nice for gaming and music.

Do you mean the razer Kraken or the Carcharias?

Depends on the hardware you have, i see that you are using previously a USB headset, do you have a discrete good soundcard or only the mainboard chipset?, also want simulated 5.1/7.1 or true 5.1?

Only for games, also for music, films?

I use currently a Roccat Kave 5.1 with a Asus Phoebus, the headset are in your price range and i'm very pleased with them but they are analogic and you need a good souncard to power them.

Either of the two you've mentioned will do. Both have mic, and both will perform good. But the Kraken would be better because it has 7.1 surround sound. But if you're on a budget and don't mind the surround sound, go for the cheaper Carcharias.
