How can I install drivers for my Aspire 5742-6740 if I have no internet access?

I replaced a frozen hard drive and then installed a newly purchased Windows 7 64 bit OS from a disc. When I start my computer, it tells me no network can be found. Ethernet cable makes no difference so I assume I need to reinstall the network drivers. Problem is I don't see anything on Acer.com that says network drivers, and even if I did the drivers on the site don't seem able to be downloaded to a flash drive, but only the affected computer. I currently have a very nice and powerful word processor, but would really like to have a fully functioning computer again. Any help appreciated!

Alright well I just downloaded the files and put them onto a USB, and I don't even have an Acer laptop, so...

What type of computer do you have? Just saying its an Acer isn't much help. If you tell me the model of your PC I can link you to your drivers. As for downloading to a USB drive, anything can be put on a USB drive. When you download a driver, you're downloading the installer for it. You can put it on any USB (assuming the size will be sufficient) and then put it on any PC.

Actually here. Type in your model name and it'll give you your appropriate drivers. Just download them, though the network drivers you're looking for include LAN (for Ethernet) and Wireless LAN (for WiFi).

I'm sorry, I put the model number in the header, not the body of my post. My bad!

It is an Aspire 5742-6720 laptop, also apparently known as the Aspire 5742 Calpella_CRB which is what I get when I go into devices and printers and click on the computers properties.

When I previously went to the link you recommend, I wasn't able to download any drivers to my flash drive. I know you say I am downloading the installer, but I am obviously doing something wrong since the installer then requires internet to access the actual driver. Any ideas how to get the installer and then the needed driver on to my wannabe computer?

Alright well I just downloaded the files and put them onto a USB, and I don't even have an Acer laptop, so chances are you're doing something amiss.

After visiting the link, type "Aspire 5742" into the area labeled "Search by Product Model" Then click on the "Aspire 5742" listing from the list that should appear as you're typing, reminiscent of something like Google autocomplete. Then scroll down towards the bottom of the page until you see the name of your laptop, an icon of it, and all your drivers. Then next to the portion labeled "Operating System" change your selection from Windows 7 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit.

Simply scroll down then to the appropriate LAN or WLAN driver and click on the far right side "download". Once you download it, use your favorite archiving program (WinRar, 7zip, etc.) to unrar the download and finally place the unrared folder into your USB drive.
