Current situation :
Modem fixed to first floor. Will be moving computers to basement.
Want:
Mount a wall jack with 2 or more Ethernet ports.
Question:
- What do I need to get this done?
- Will splitting a single port lower the speed of the 2+ new ports?
Any help/recommendations are appreciated!
Edit1:
Thanks for the responses!

But if switches are the only way for homes, then do you guys have any recommendations on brands of switches? Looking at the "Netgear FS105NA, ProSafe 5-port 10/100 Desktop Switch" which according to the online manual comes with a wall mount. And the ASUS GX-D1051, which interests me because it has a VIP port.
