Hi all,

I was using my desktop when all of a sudden I got a system service exception BSOD. It was taking a long time to collect data for the minidump file, so I held down the power button to turn off my computer. When I turned it back on, nothing showed up on my monitor besides HDMI/Analog on the screen. So I didn't even get a chance to try using my computer in safe mode.

My computer: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01746794

I only upgraded the power supply to an OCZ 550w and I installed a radeon HD 6790 PCI Express 2.1 x16 a few months ago.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

All you can do is continuously restart while tapping Function 8 until that message reappears or you see the full Advanced Boot menu. That will include the entry "Disable automatic restart on system failure" and that's the oe to select because the blue screen will stand still long enough to show the Stop Error message. Let us have the numeric 0x0000?? and ANY_WORDS_JOINED_UP_BY underscores and someone will be able to advise you further.

If you have or made a Vista DVD, you may find some success in the StartUp Repair options. Another option is to remove one of the RAM sticks and try again. If that does nothing, put it back and withdraw the other. Are there any grinding hard disk noises?

Tapping F8 does not work, because the computer does not boot into the menu where I can press f8. I tried removing the RAM, but that did nothing. No sound coming from the hard drive.
