I have a 3yr old i5 Alienware m11x r2 laptop with 1gb GT 335 card and 4gb RAM and have only recently been doing some serious gaming. It can play Civ 5 ok at high res albeit it's hitting the threshold and the fan is roaring. World of Warplanes is only playable at a rather ugly minimum possible settings and res.

I don't have the inclination to buy an expensive gaming rig (and will be buying a ps4), but wondered if a cheapo desktop off eBay might boost gaming performance enough to be worthwhile. I can pick up £299 ($450) desktop with the 2GB DDR3 6670 card. Processor (amd quad core 3.2ghz) and RAM (8gb) are obviously improved, but I wasn't sure if this gfx card was much better than what I already have in the laptop, not least as the card is over 2yrs old itself now.

If anyone can draw a comparison or otherwise advise I'd appreciate it, cheers.

The 6670 is a decent graphic card.i use to have it paired with my intel e7600 until it go bust and upgraded to 6770.The 6670 is way better than the GT 335.just go for the desktop as it will have more potential to be upgraded in the future.
