So I ordered the 7950 at first for my computer but then realized that my case would only fit a 10" or less card. So I ordered a 7870 Ghz instead. From asking around Tom's it seems that my particular 7950 is actually less than 10" so now I have 2 unopened GPUs in front of me. I want to RMA one of them.

1.) How much of an FPS difference am I looking at between these 2 GPUs? I have 8 GB ram and an IvB i3.

2.) Is the FPS gain worth spending $50 more on the 7950?

You are going to see a pretty significant CPU bottleneck with either card. It certainly won't hurt to have the 7950, but in most modern titles, you're going to have a near-identical framerate until you upgrade to an Ivy i5.

I don't think an i3 will bottleneck any GPU unless its a heavily multithreaded game. Any 2 threaded game will not be bottlenecked by the i3 one bit.

The benchmarks I'm looking at seem like its a 10% difference. I know the 7950 overclocks much better but since my case is so small, I'm not going to overclock.
