When you move around connecting to different public routers there are some WiFi adapter advance settings that could be adjusted: 1) 802.11n Channel Width - 20 MHz in a populated area; 2) Transmit Power - lower in a populated area; 3) Maybe more?

There is one application that automatically adjust TCP settings (TCPOptimizer) but it doesn´t seem to be any of the advanced settings for the wifi adapter driver.

Isn´t there any thing to auto set wifi adapter driver advance settings according to populated or less populated wifi transmissions in the area?

Seems like all Wake on Wireless Lan settings should just be disabled in advance settings for a personal computer?

Any thoughts on TCPOptimizer ?

You really only want to use those options when you control the complete environment like in a corporate network in a building you have complete control over.

Setting your power lower is not a good option. Sure you might not interfere with other people as much but unless they do the same you reducing your power will just allow them to interfere more with you. Most people take the other approach and take as much radio bandwidth as they can possibly get just so they get what they need. In some cases going to narrow bands may help because it reduces the chance of interference but you are best off setting it on the router. If you do not and you have 1 machine running 20mhz and another running 40mhz the router will attempt to support both and you get less than optimum results. Many factor determine exactly what rates you end up with.
