I am going to uni near the end of this month and have been looking for a PC to use in my dorm both for work and gaming (to avoid using shared facilities when not emergency) i have tried to use sites to assemble my own but have failed miserably. i would like i5/i7 CPU and Nvidia graphics (ideally not too bad one). i have a laptop but its a samsung r510, not exactly ideal for anything given the requirements of todays software and games but it will do me for basic non-intensive prposes such as essays, research, basic coding etc.

i will be doing a programming course, but want to be able to play games like "blade and soul" or "WoW" with anything better than lowest settings and still have a playable game. i will slowly improve the parts over the following years as my cash situation allows me to. please and thank you.

ideally i didnt want to spend more than £600 on a PC but as i intend to not replace anytime soon i decided to splurge inorder to have a longer run-life, especially since im going for a gaming/intensive PC and not just any old brand name pre-built.

You're going to buy it on january 1st, 2014 ? If so, then just wait until then and ask again, nothing will be the same. Otherwise, here are two build that I can recommend you. One that will fit your budget but that will be too much for what you want to do with it, or one that will be a lot cheaper, but that can still do what you wanted it to do :

i dont have a fixed purchase date in mind yet as i want to have time to atleast get minimum requirement info from the course staff and any others who are further into the same or a similar course.
i have nothing so i would have to assemble an entire PC including pay for a cooler, OS, moniter and keyboard+mouse. i made the date for the first of the new year as im not well informed about the release schedule's of new parts and don't want to exclude any of the new additions.

if possible hoping for as many suggestions, working with minimum i5 and nvidia geforce if only way to fit in the price range

edit: i have about 3 weeks to decide what i will be using before i start ordering individual parts.
