AMD Radeon 7850 gets random frame drops?

Hello, I have an AMD Radeon Asus 7850 GPU with a AMD A8 5500k CPU @3.2GHz and I can get 60 fps on BF3 but when I play Crysis 3 I have to lower the settings down to medium and it feel smooth as butter but randomly when I turn fast it will lag up for a couple seconds then go smooth again. It does this in BF3 sometime too but way less and a smaller lag. I can understand the Crysis 3, it's a very high demanding game to run but I just recently got Aliens: Colonial Marines and I can't even run this game on highest settings. I have to turn it down to medium and even then it lags a ton when I turn fast and at random moments but then it goes back to very smooth. It is just random frequent frame drops randomly? I don't understand why this game get's them worse then Crysis 3. Is it my CPU? I am upgrading to a 7970 and i5 4670k soon so I hope it doesn't happen with that setup.

i assume you mean you have an A8-5600k

The a8 is roughtly equal to the phII x4 965 as a desktop cpu, though it is SLOWER at it's base 3.2ghz then the PHII is at 3.2ghz. I would suggest you first try to overclock that cpu up to 4.0ghz... That said colonial marines is one of the worst games made in existence, and likely wouldn't run smooth on anyone's system.

Anyway, you have about the slowest quad core cpu i would ever recommend for a gaming system, and a lower end gpu. so i'm sure that's part of the problem. That said you should be able to play most of games on medium to high settings at 1080p.

And yes you'll see an improvement with the intel and 7970.

I wouldn't call the 7850 a low end GPU being able to run BF# on ultra at around 60fps? It is a mid tier card. Thank you for helping out I guess Aliens is very poorly optimized. It's not too big of a deal considering I should be able to run all games on ultra with no drops on my next intel i5 and 7970 build since it is a high tier card, after all there is only one AMD GPU better than it and that is the 7990.

Sorry I added a "k" in there by habit it is just A8 5500 APU

then yeah... your cpu is probably the bottleneck. I don't mean to bash on the 7850, it's better then my gpu (7770) and i can play pretty much anything on ultra or high, so we know the gpu isn't the problem.

Goto the manufacturers website and download the latest BIOS for your card, I had the same issue and I updated the BIOS and it resolved the issue all togather.
