Does the new Intel core i7 4960x CPU use ivy bridge cores or does it still use the same cores of i7 3960x?

I've seen the benchmarks and it seems that the i7 4960x is only 2-5 percent faster than i7 3960x. And the i7 4960x has a higher clock rate than i7 3960x, 3.3ghz vs 3.6ghz

Yes, it is the Ivy Bridge architecture scaled-up to 6-cores (4930/4960)

It's not quite IB as it has QPI vs DMI, larger cache, 4 memory lanes vs 2 and more PCIe lanes.

It is based on the same process node and tech but it has its differences that set it apart.
