This is my first solo build. Forum lurker, but inexperienced.

I successfully booted the machine twice fully into BIOS and noticed only one of my RAM slots was being read. I turned it off, checked the RAM slots, found them secure, and turned it back on.

Now it won't POST - I'm getting a one long two short beep code (I've read this is either video card issue or RAM issue, conflicting) and the DRAM LED either slowly flashes, quickly flashes, or stays solid for a while. I've pressed MEMOK! and nothing changes. The CPU LED will come on briefly (and the DRAM LED goes off) and the beeps stop - then the DRAM LED starts flashing again and the beeps start too.

I don't understand why it started up "fine" before (all except not seeing one of the RAM sticks) but won't POST now.

I built everything from a combo from Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?I...

I only added a wireless network card and an SSD. I haven't been able to format or do anything with the PC at all, so everything's completely fresh.

Hi, Try starting with single RAM module installed. Make sure it is properly inserted (some require a bit more force).

I reseated both sticks in multiple configurations, matching mobo manual's spec for placement. Because the system detected one of the modules initially, my concern is while doing the trouble shooting somehow the "working" module stopped working. As in, worst case scenario that one of my two sticks was bad as I turned the machine on, when switching the second stick around to troubleshoot it went bad also. I can't imagine a short in the DIMM slot causing this as everything's brand new. I just want to try everything I can before I have to pay someone at a shop to help me narrow down the problem.

The remove the CPU and check the CPU socket for bent pins. If OK, reinstall the CPU cooler and test the board again but outside the case.

I took the build down to a shop and swapped RAM to test - it booted to post fine, so I'm returning my RAM. Thanks for the tips!
