reformatting and system image

An image is a snapshot in time. There is no need to format as the image will put everything back to the way it was at the time you created it.

When you install W7, W7 will format hdd (partition in which it will be installed to be precise), and when you restore system image it will restore your state to date when image is created. So there is no point to reformat.

So it's counterproductive than? If i want the benefits of a reformat, I can not restore system image because it will put me back to where I was before the reformat?
