I have a WD Passport 2TB HD that was plugged into my router. Drive is full of movies (all the way full). I was on my laptop with the drive mounted when my laptop powered off for unknown reason. Now the drive is empty. Even properties of the drive show all storage space is available

computer management showed this error after the powerdown.
The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device WpdBusEnumRoot\UMB\2&37c186b&1&STORAGE#VOLUME#_??_USBSTOR#DISK&VEN_GENERIC-&PROD_XD#SD#M.S.&REV_1.00#00000#.
(not sure if its relevant)

did a chkdsk which logged this

I tried one recovery program, it found only files i had deleted myself, but none other.
I am currently using R-studio to scan (another 6 hours)

Any advice??????
My ISP will not be happy when I have to redownload 2TB of stuff this month

Try different options - if you have pick`d Deleted file Search then try Format Drive file search ....

There is no "pill " type recommend instructions in data recovery scenario - after all you have SOME problem with you drive it could be HW problem preventing the recovery .....
The recovery tools are 100% operational if you have 100% operational drive and 0% if you have 99% operational drive.

That`s why there are so many other ways to prevent you for loosing data - RAID configs , NAS storage boxes ets. ...
The most secure from loosing data point of view is Cloud Storage - DropBox , GoogleDrive, SkyDrive etc.
You CAN NEVER Loose data in the cloud :)
