Hello,

Yesterday I bought a new nvidia geforece gt 640 gpu and 500w psu, I installed them and everything, installed the drivers and then started to play counter strike on steam. After about 20 minutes of working perfectly, the screen began to have flashing black pixels and the game crashed. I then got BSOD everytime I tried to restart my computer. Since then I have been working all through the night trying to fix this. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. Reseated the gpu, checked to make sure it wasnt overheating, and booted into safe mode several times. I have gotten no luck since. If anyone can help me in the slightest bit I would be extremely grateful. Thank you

Your newly bought gt640 card seems defective. try contacting the dealer you bought the card from asking for a replacement. Since the card is pretty new you probably get a new card from the dealer.

I bought it from amazon. Should I contact the seller there? Because that means I have to reship the package to him and wait for a new one. Likely taking another week or so.

Nvidia geforce gt 640 and coolermaster 500w psu.
There are no places to plug anything from the psu into the gpu. So what i did waa plug the psu cables into the mobo. Is that alright?

yeah that sounds good. some cards have extra power connectors on them.
Is the card fully seated in the socket? there is normally a small plastic clip on the back of the motherboard socket this should be clipped on to the card.
Roll back your windows installation without the new card and with your old graphics card in the machine. see if things go back to normal.
you added two things to the machine either one could be the issue.

Did that and the computer is running normally like it did before i tried installing the gpu. I believe the problem is the gpu's drivers because when i boot up i get bsod and it says driver error. I am sure that the gpu is seated correctly as well
