Just got AMD FX in my new computer. Is the stock fan+Bronze piping cooler good, or should I shell out the twenty bucks for one?

The stock coolers on the FX-series are a bit of a joke. Especially on anything like a 6300 or above.

Better to be safe than sorry. Grab a Cooler Master 212 Evo. :)

its quite loud and the cpu runs hot, if you want to overclock you have to get one anyway.

+1. I have my 8350 OC'd on one and the highest I've ever reached (using Prime95) was 60C. Keep in mind that's at a 4.5Ghz OC which is the max this cooler will be able to handle.

It needs to be replaced asap. The stock cooler is not enough for the 8350 even at stock speeds.

Ah, I assumed you had an 83xx processor. Stock cooler is probably decent for the 4130.

See how your temps are under load. As long as it stays under 60C and isn't too loud for you, keep the stock cooler.

I am a huge advocate for aftermarket cooling, and will always recommend getting one, if only for the better acoustics.

I was planning to, but it was sold out everywhere, so I decided I don't need 8 cores.
