Okay so I have this computer from maybe 8-7 years ago. It doesn't quite wanna run anymore properly (not that I've used it for ages now) But My mum wants to get some data out of it, so I'm wondering if I can use alternate methods to spin the HDD up to get something out of it.

Hard Disk Make - SV8004H Samsung Spinpoint 80GB IDE

What I have on hand, is a :

A- IDE CPU that runs but not properly

B- A SATA CPU that still works but going to be retired soon, BUT 1. It doesn't have any extra power cables though I could take the one from the DVD drive BUT; 2. Power cables doesn't fit the SV8004H

C- Kinda new and up to date laptop Lenovo U410

D- IDE to USB/SATA connector thing which has a power pin but I don't have the power adapter

E- HDD I wanna run to get data from (SV8004H Samsung Spinpoint 80GB IDE)

... So I'm thinking to ask if I can do this:

Connect the (A - IDE CPU) which has the power cables to power the (E - HDD) + (D - IDE to USB/SATA Adaptor) to either (B - SATA CPU) via the SATA cable OR ( C - my Lenovo U410 Laptop).

I'm thinking that I should ask and get some confirmation before I do anything. Because I'm half suspicious that I might just fry either (B) or (C) which I don't really want. If I went ahead with what I'm thinking of doing.

Thank You in advance!

Thank you for the suggestions, I'm just wondering if there might be a voltage issue that causes frying of anything. And as much as possible keep the solution to what I have at home, if else I will buy that!
