First Computer Build - what do you think?

Solution
Everything in the above comment is incorrect. The 7870Ghz is a very good match for the 3570k. 450W is also sufficient, but there really isn't any point in going with anything that is less than 500W. Also, the minimum I would go for in terms of memory speed is 1600MHz. It shouldn't cost you much more, and gives you a nice little bit of extra speed. Other than that, good build.

450 Watt is WAYY to low for that system. GPU will bottleneck your CPU, so no point in overclocking because you are just gaming.

I'd probably pump in more money into the GPU if you play more FPS games, but for other games I'd probably go evenly.

What do you think of this RAM and PSU upgrade? Also, does it make a big difference between the different ratings of a PSU (gold, bronze, etc...)?

-_- There is no such thing as a GPU bottlenecking your CPU......

I would go with this build, better performance with a cheaper cost without losing quality.

There absolutely is. It is the most common form of bottlenecking. If the GPU didn't bottleneck the system, you would see no FPS increase from a graphics card upgrade. (Then you have a CPU bottleneck, the kind of bottleneck you always hear about)

Better? How so? If he wants to he can just add a 4670k to my build, and the total would come to $772. Also your build doesn't come with a CPU cooler.

Edit: Also GPU can bottleneck the CPU on graphic intensive games such as crysis, but in this case he's fine with an i5.

The stock one does fine, some people even overclocked a bit with it.

The only reason people buy a "k" series processor is to overclock with it :/.

He can't just add a 4670K and expect it to work with LGA1155.... CPU's and Motherboards don't work like that...

What I meant was he can add a 4670k ( and get a new mobo). Anyways the new motherboard would be around the same price.

Nope. Some people buy a "K" Series processor and don't overclock with it, because they will overclock with it in the future so that it doesn't bottleneck their GPU, also, I meant some people overclocked their 4670k with their stock cooler.

No. Z77 Mobos are cheaper then Z87 mobos, so it would be more expensive, depending on which brand of course.
