I already have an Intel Core i5 650 2 cores, four threads @ 3.20 ghz and upto 3.33 ghz with turbo boost and i wanted to buy a Sapphire HD 7870 Ghz edition will this cpu bottleneck my New Gpu.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cpu: Intel Core i5 650 @ 3.20 ghz and upto 3.33 ghz with turbo boost

Ram: 4GB 1333MHZ

Psu: 320 watts for my cpu and an external FSP Booster X5 450watts independent/supplementary power supply for the HD 7870 Only.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I dont have enough money to buy a new processor.

Also i wanted to know if it will bottleneck, by how many fps will i lose when i play a game like Crysis 3 on Very High with Fxaa with 1366x768 moniter

I cant overclock my cpu because my computer is an hp oem pc locked and if anyone has an overclocking method plz tell me.

Thank you :)

no major bottleneck, it would be comparable to an i3 2100, being a dual core cpu with hyperthreading. So some games that take advantage of more cores it might not always deliver smooth fps, but in most gases should run pretty smoothly. You may be able to find a cheap core i5 750 on ebay which is a true quad core cpu, which would give a performance boost in some games. Apart from that you would have to upgrade your motherboard and cpu if you wanted something significantly faster.

I disagree. The i5 650 is only a bit worse than a IvB i3. It won't bottleneck due to single core performance, but only for heavily multithreaded games.

Any dual core will bottleneck a 7870 in Crysis 3, in games that only use 2 cores it will only be a minor bottleneck. This is based on playing at 1920 x 1080 below that the CPU will become more of a bottleneck and above less. Those chips overclock very well, if you got a Hyper 212 evo cooler or similar you could get it to 4.2-4.6 GHz fairly easily which would help hugely.

I agree that the bottleneck won't be huge but you won't be getting the same numbers that other ppl with that video card would be getting. If you overclock it will help immensely.
I would recommend a different cooler though, I prefer the Zalman CNPS10x Performa. ($39.99)

The dual-core thing will hurt you with cpu-intensive games, i.e.:Crysis3.
Overclock it if you can;Overclocked it will out-do all the newer i3s/Pentiums.
