Hey, I just built a computer, and it won't turn on. It turned on the first few times, then it stopped. The fans start spinning and then stop. Could this be the PSU that is dead? I unplugged the video card for less power usage, but still no results.

OK, I will try a new PSU tomorrow. The connectors are all good. As I said, it booted a few times, then stopped.

Your PSU might not be high enough wattage

It should be plenty. It is a 620 watt Seasonic. Is that enough to power a 4570 i5 and a 7870 and 2 hdds? Pcpartpicker had an estimated wattage of 358.

So you think that the PSU didn't die? If so, what could have died?

Is your CPU cooler properly installed and is its fan running? It might be overheating. Also check that you have the 4-pin power going to the CPU, and that you have metal standoffs supporting your motherboard from the case.

There are standoffs, I have an eight pin for the CPU, and the fan starts and stop spinning. I believe it is the PSU, as the PSU's intake fan starts to spin, then stops.

That's normal if your just starting it up.

is it the seasonic mII12? thats what i have now but a 750 and it crapped out in me in a month but i have 7 fans, a pump a 7970 OC 8320 oc 2 hdds etc which requires a decent amount of power. I would contact seasonic and rma it.

one thing to try is which helped me get my system going every once and a while till it completely died was disconnect the power cable to the psu wait then plug it back in and see if it powers up. if it does you know its deff the psu
