Hi all! I searched around for this and really couldn't find anything on it.

I currently have 3 hdd's in my pc right now. Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate is running on a 1 TB WD. I have a laptop hdd that used to house my windows copy but now that is blank. I also have an old IDE 160GB hdd that I have hooked up with a $10 adapter.

What I want to do is install Ubuntu on my laptop hard drive. (320gb) But I want to install it off of the IDE hard drive. I don't want to copy a DVD or onto a USB drive.

Is there a way to do this?

Both of the extra drives are completly emety at the moment so data loss is not an issue.

What you mean by "This system"? You need **somehow** to boot Linux install CD/USB, either on the computer you're talking about, or or somewhere' else where you can connect your IDE drive.

There's also another option. There used to be (haven't checked it recently) an option do install Ubuntu from within Windows, check WIBU.
