i have a dell optiplex 745 desktop series and im looking to upgrade the video card so i can play dota 2. it's the first computer ive bought and it was at a cheap price so i didnt look at all the specs cuz i dont know to much about that stuff. i've done some research and i know some more stuff about my computer it has 280watts as the power source but im looking to upgrade that, the video card is awful its a intel chipsett and its just awful so thats my main concern finding a video card that my computer supports. can anybody help me out that knows alot about video cards and how to tell which one your computer supports. Thank you

the specs on my comp are:

Window 7 Professional

Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.40GHz 3.39GHz (no idea if this is good or not)

2 GB RAM (not sure what ddr it is)

System type: 64-bit Operating System

Pen and Touch: No pen and touch is available for this display

It seems like you have the one second from the left.

Honestly, that looks like a pain to upgrade. The motherboard is not a standard form factor, and thus cannot fit into a new case that would allow a new power supply. The Pentium D though, is a dual-core, which isnt a bad thing.

Dell also has a history of making good power supplies in their OEM computers. 280W should be enough for a low-profile Radeon HD6570 or 6670.

The 6570 would be the safer bet, not to say that the 6670 wouldnt run. Both would be able to play Dota2 unless you were trying to play on 1080p.

I mean if I were to invest on a video card I probably would want one with an HDMI output because I plan on using my 32" LED tv as the monitor. But if that can't be done I would simply just use my old flat screen 20"computer monitor like I have been

im running the optiplex also 32 bit and it was definately a different experience installing the video card alone lol. i installed a gt 620 video card running borderlands at 30 fps on high settings. definately better than stock. the problem im having is that the gt620 barely fits because of some cylinder nodes that are in the way that i discovered today taking the cpu all apart. definately throw some ram in there :)

from what i hear Sapphire HD 6570 works well

is there a card in your opinion that would work on this slot

I believe the 6570 would work. It uses very little power. The recommendation of 400W is from AMD, and is ridiculously overrated. Its mainly just to cover their butts in case of lawsuits.

I run an AMD Athlon X2 4600+ with a Nvidia 8600GT, and I am only using a Dell 350W.

Thats the other thing, Dell has a history of making good power supplies.
