Yesterday I bought:
AMD FX 8350 for $179
WinTV HVR 2250 $70

Today I bought:
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 $127 Includes Tax and $10 Rebate

I currently own from my old build DDR2:
-Intel Quad Duo Q6700
-Galaxy GeForce 9600gt
-Ultra 550LSP
-Nvidia SLI memory (I cant remember if its 4gb total or 4gb each...)
-***Updated to ASUS BW-12B1ST***
-I dont know what I own for Hard Drive but its not SSD
-Thermaltake M9 Case

I use and will use my new build for Media Center/Gaming. I havent done PC Gaming because my Computer was old and I own a PS3. Probably 50/50 split between the two. I may start computer gaming more but want to know I have room for growth.

Let the games begin: Starting with what I currently own, make some solid recommendations to match my needs and possible more gaming. I think I want to OC since I have the CPU and Board to do it well, I assume...

When you buy a car, do you buy one based on how high the speedo goes? Just because a PSU is labeled 550 or 450 or 650, that might not mean much. Modern systems use the 12V rail to power most things. The biggest two are the CPU and GPU. An older PSU like your LSP aren't really designed to provide max power on the 12V rail. The PSU I mentioned is a gold rated 450W PSU that can provide 99% of its power on the 12V rail. It probably has more usable power then your 550W LSP.

When picking the ram I forgot to mention stick with the big name brand options, and get a set that runs at 1.5V. 8GBs of Crucial, Corsair, Mushkin, etc of DDR3-1600/1866MHz will do fine. Timings won't matter to much.

I mean make recommendations to add onto the recent bought FX 8350, GA990FXA-UD3 and WinTV2250 (TV Tuner). Should I use my current Ultra 550w LSP or get a new one? Should I use my Galaxy GeForce 9600GT or get a newer one? What should I do as far as RAM and Hard Drives?

I haven't set one. Not spending a ton. I want a good build that also has room for possible upgrades. Yes I plan to OC.

Let's start with the less expensive stuff. Say RAM, PSU. I will get the GPU last. I would really like explanations to the parts you may recommend.

Rosewill Capstone 450, should be around $70 on newegg. GTX760 or the 7950. Should be $200-$300 depending on brand/model. Ram would be a 2x4GB DDR3-1600 kit. Probably another $60-$75 though I haven't priced ram recently. Should get you through any game at 1080.

So why 450 instead of like my current 550lsp or even a 750? Does Overclocking matter?

I hear 1600 4gbx2 is recommended but there are a tiny of options for 1600 4gb 4gb x 2. What do I need to consider in choosing which brand or whatever on the 1600 4gb x 2?
