I have a WNDR3700.
I am trying to find a way to allow access to facebook, but block the stupid games like farmville, happy aquarium, ect.

Long story short I don't mind my kids using facebook for communicating with friends and their cousins. But I want to block them from playing to stupid mindless games. If they are going to play a game, I would rather it be something on an xbox that actually requires them to think and problem solve not just click a button 1000 times to water crops or feed fish. Not to mention that those games "reward" your for coming back 5 times a day.

Anyway enough of my ranting about how much I hate how facebook has evolved.
I can block facebook.com all together easily enough, but for whatever reason I cant get it to block subpages, and it doesnt appear that games are generally under a subdomain of games or apps.facebook.com or even the facebook.com/happyaquariumgame link does not block it properly.

Just looking for any suggestions. Worst case I end up enforcing a rule with them, would just be simpler to have it unavailable

It would be very difficult to do that with a consumer router.

While it has different "hooking" abilities it is still a game and teaches many different roles, to be more specific it depends on the game and the person playing it but they will develop certain skills based off these. One of which I can tell you is consistancy and social development through somewhat un necessary gaming social requirements.

However at the same time these can be very annoying especially if employee/child is only considering the game over required or expected time in which to further their development or job/skill set. I don't know a whole lot on this topic but I found a link with promising results. Good luck with it and let me know how it develops -

So what you are saying is that mindlessly killing people in black ops 2 and getting called names is more stimulating than say farmville? Both of them require very very very little thought. Point, click, get rewards. Both of them are time wasters and a means to have some fun, what should you care what your children enjoy doing? Aslong as they are doing the things they are supposed to be doing I really don't think you should take away anything that isn't harmful to there health or social stature.

Your best option is to load dd-wrt on the router it has a much more advanced filter option. Be somewhat careful to read the instructions there are various revisions of the wndr3700. If this is always run on a pc platform there are a number of parental control software you can load. K9 might be able to do what you want and it is completely free. K9 also runs on some android platforms but it is pretty easy to bypass.
