Hi, I'm building my first rig and am scared that the pc will be loud. I don't mind when its under load, but when on idle i don't really want to hear it, does anyone have a similar build, to give me feedback?

Parts:
Case : NZXT Switch 810
MOBO: Asus Maximus VI Formula
PSU: Corsair AX860
RAM : 8 Gb Corsair vengeance 2133
CPU: i5 4670k
Cooler: H100i
Noctua fans
GPU: ASUS GTX 770

Any recommendations on different parts are also appreciated, i really like Asus thats why i chose them.

I haven't used that case before, my version of quiet may be different than yours though. Case fans don't bother me and I generally find them to be quiet, the loudest component is usually the stock CPU cooler so if your looking for anything that is remotely quiet your on the right track by replacing that. You can't really do anything about how loud the GPU is and they can get quite loud under load. Now if...

Have you ever used that particular case?
I'm considering going ITX because of the amazing silence reviews the Bitfenix Prodigy got.
Sadly i havnt found anyone that has the 810 and that can confirm its "sounddampening"

Noise will depend on which profile you have selected for your fans on the H100i. You can change the fan speeds in the Corsair Link software. Just make you plug it in to a USB header. If you don't, those fans will get quite loud if the CPU hit 60+ degrees (not that hot really, 95+ is hot).
The GPU will be nearly inaudible as it uses an aftermarket cooler design that is fairly quiet.

Now if your looking for a silent build with a case that is meant for sound dampening I don't have any experience in that department. I do know a friend that bought http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119138 and it was really quiet because of the sound dampening foam inside.

So if you want a computer that isn't loud you will be ok, but if you want a computer that will be silent find a quiet case that has good reviews.

the loudest components are the cpu fan (at load) gpu fan (at load) and northbridge fans because they are small.

smaller cases will be more noisy than larger cases due to the increased airflow needed for cooling.

smaller fans will be louder than larger fans.

if you have many large fans at low rpm they will be quiet and still provide good airflow through the case.
