I dont really know much about computers or anything related and the specs are pretty lame im assuming but i inserted the card and the computer doesnt boot. The fans spin and the screen lights up but remains black. Im on windows 8 and im not sure which information is needed and how to see that. Any help would be appreciated

Solution
This is caused from secure boot. Put the monitor back into the mobo. When you start the pc, press f10 to go into bios. Go to settings, general, advanced startup, advanced, uefi/firmware, disable secure boot, enable legacy.

If you added a graphic card then remember to plug the video cables into the graphic card and not the motherboard video outputs. Also make sure that the graphic card is properly inserted as in make sure it is pushed all the way into the PCI-E slot and make sure you plug the power cable in for the graphic card.

Its all the way inserted and the monitor is plugged into the card and not the motherboard. As for the power supply i dont believe it needs a more powerful one? I could be wrong but i was told it wouldnt need an additional power source.

Nothing at all. The fan starts spinning and the screen lights up but remains black.

What you can try is to unplug any usb from your computer. Only have the video cable, power cable for the power supply, mouse and keyboard plugged in. Can you tell me your system spec? like the processor and power supply?

Gonna try this now, Thank you and will get back to you.

Edit: Windows 8 makes your solution very difficult. Any other tips?

I figured out how to get into the bios on windows 8 but the procedure is not the same, any step by steps for windows 8?

Bios isn't going to be different no matter what windows version you have but will differ from mobo to mobo. It may be under cpu settings, just look everywhere for something that says secure boot.

Saying it's common to not be upgradable is a complete lie. Other than being soldered to the mobo or not having expansion slots, you can upgrade.

This issue happens on all pcs with w8, uefi and secure boot. Enabling secure boot doesn't let you change hardware until you disable it.

I eventually found my way through it you way and it worked up until a point. Ive no options left but to assume it was in fact a faulty card. The price you pay for using a used card i suppose. Thank you very much for your trouble.
