Yep, but it won't work because of the OS. It is OEM and when you change out the Motherboard it wil think you are trying to install it in another machine. You can't do that with an OEM operating system as it is licensed for that machine only.

Yep as in Operating system. Sorry about the Tech shorthand. When a computer is built at the factory, they install ( image ) what is an OEM Operating System. The Opersating system will get a system profile. You can change processors, and memory without any issues. Once you change the Motherboard, then it essentially changes the profile to one that the Operating System is not licensed to. With a Retail copy, you can move it from machine to machine, but can only have it installed on one machine at a time.

i have a windows 7 64bit disk that a guy has made multiple copies of and i got it from him and i have had windows running fine from more than one pc with the disk, and i will be formatting my old hdd to.

Ok. I don't comment on Bootleged Software as it is illegal. I don't what the community standards are here in regards to that, but on the forms I moderate, it is verboten.

IN short, no. You have to have a license for each Machine. I have a retail copy of Windows 7 and I ran into problems. I moved it from one Computer to this one. Not a problem, then I installed it on a new Harddrive on THIS computer, and then on the SSD I put in here. Still, no problem. I upgraded the Motherboard and Processor in June and ran into an Authorization issue. All I needed to do was state that it was only installed on one computer and it was authorized.
