As Seladon said 1600 (preferably CL 9 or lower and 1.5 volts) is plenty sufficient for gaming, however it's entry level for rigs today and 1866 is basically the same price....also if you muti-task much or are into imaging/video/other memory centric apps then might want ot look to higher freq DRAM

For gaming, just get the cheapest 2x4GB CAS 9 1600MHz RAM that you can find.

plan to use it mainly for gaming.. but wanted to know if there is a difference in 1333mhz, 1600mhz .etc as i plan to overclock it..
Anyway their won't be much difference between 1333 / 1600 at same cas.
But it would be better to get 1333 cas 7 vs 1600 cas 9.
I think the sweet spot would be 1600 cas 8
