So recently while playing games on my computer my GPU has been majorly overheating. I first noticed this when I was playing Guild Wars 2 on high graphics and my computer just randomly shut down instantally. I thought this may have just been a powersurge but after multiple shut downs and some little research it seemed by GPU was overheating. I really need an aswer to fix this I've tried cleaning my PC in and out so what could be causing the issue, could this be my PSU being faulty?

However, I need a solution the only thing I can think of at this time is to upgrade most of my PC I've already installed an extra fan but it doesn't seem to help at all. So would the best thing to do be to buy a new Graphics card, a new PSU and some new fans since I was thinking of upgrading my PC anyways.

The other issue I'm thinking is compatibility, I'm not the best with PC's so I don't know the ins and outs and I would most likely end up buying some new parts which would clash with my motherboard XD. Anyways, here's my PC specs and information

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
3.10 gigahertz Intel Core i5-3450
Board: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. P8H61-MX USB3 Rev X.0x

( If there's any other information you need just ask )

I would be very gratful if someone could please link me to what they think would be some nice new computer upgrades which I could buy. Bare in mind I'm really only looking for some new high cooling fans a new GPU and a new PSU. anyways here's my specs

Well my Budget is pretty high and to be honest I was wanting a new GPU anyways as well as fans so I was wondering if anyone had any idea's of which I should get? also should I get a new PSU if I'm upgrading or not? Sorry if that's a silly answer I'm not all that amazing with computers.

Pretty high as in a GTX 780 with a 750w Platinum PSU and a half dozen Noctua fans, or pretty high as in a HD7770 with a 600w OCZ and a 4 pack of CoolerMaster 120mm's?

For £250 I would go with this...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-11199-19-20G-CrossFireX-Multi-GPU-Technology/dp/B00A1572FK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1378413615&sr=8-3&keywords=7870

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Builder-Series-Modular-Certified/dp/B00ALYOTTI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378413722&sr=8-1&keywords=600w+modular

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CO-9050004-WW-Performance-Edition-Airflow/dp/B007RESGD0/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1378413758&sr=8-5&keywords=Corsair+120mm (2 packs for 4 total fans depending on your case)

That is the most bang for your buck at £260 in my opinion. All of which is compatible with what you have now (assuming your case has 4 120mm fan slots).

its fine running them at 100 percent while gaming its not going to mess with anything but make more noise. i would get a aftermarket cooler for your gpu. are all of your case fans running?

I suggested an AMD card because with your budget something like a GTX 760 or 770 is too expensive. I prefer Nvidia but not if my budget doesn't allow for it. As for your case, I don't see anything wrong with it... just throw 4 Corsair fans in there (2 intake and 2 exhaust) and you'll be ready to go!

I looked at your old case and it was lacking in places for fans and the airflow in that thing didn't appear to be all that good. Better than a Mini Tower I suppose because of the extra room. With this one you can put in a front intake fan and also up to two in the top for exhaust ( you already have one at the rear for exhaust ). The configuration is similar to one I am using.
