Hi all,

I'm looking to dual boot with Windows 8 64-bit and Linux Mint 15 64-bit on my rig. As the title suggests, my setup is on a Sabertooth z77 with two 256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSDs, set up with the Intel RAID configuration. I am striping the drives.

I made the mistake of installing Windows first, as I usually do, since I often get problems doing it the other way around (this isn't my first dual boot, but it is my first time with RAID).

According to this website, I should first install Linux, and then Windows. Unfortunately, I think this article was published before Windows 8, and so I want to know if anyone can confirm that this article still holds with Windows 8?

I can't think of any reasons why it shouldn't, but I'll be very upset if I have to wipe my SSDs clean and start anew only to find that it was all for nothing.

If anyone has an alternate method where I don't need to wipe my drives clean, that too would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Yes, you would still need to install mdadm ,which I beleive mint requres a seperate download to do.
Anyways it sounds like you are onto a better plan for your situation.

This is why I can't do that:

Remember, this is an Intel RAID 0 setup.

I've been doing a bit of reading about fake RAID, and it seems like it's not exactly a good setup.

I think I'll reinstall both Linux and Windows with software RAID and then do it again with hardware RAID when I get the opportunity.
