Hello, yes I know these two cards are basically equal and people can argue about them forever. But I was going to buy an AMD Sapphire 7970 but then I saw someone say that the 680 is better than the 7970 and the 680 is only equal to the GHz edition? Is this true?

The 680 is only 6% better, something you wont notice 90% of the time. The 7970 is cheaper at the moment and comes with AMD's never settle bundle (3 free games with a 7970). Right now, I would go with a 7970 or a 770 if you can add extra $$$.

The GHZ edition does outperforms the 680 by 2%, again something you really won't notice unless playing a game optimized specifically for an Nvidia card.

The GTX680 is not the current model so I cannot recommend it.
You should look at the GTX770 which is a bit faster then both.

Or if those are the only options, then you should probably go with the 7970. Depending on your country it may come with free games.

680/770 are exactly the same, if you clock them both to the same speed, they will perform 99.9% the same, if you can find a same manufacture/cooler version, say for instance, a sapphire vapor x 680 and a sapphire vapor x 770, get whatever one is cheaper. that said, most of the time the 770 is going to be cheaper than the 680 anyways.

but, the 7970 is a far better deal right now(about $50 cheaper) and the performance is so close to 680/770 that prices is the deciding factor.
