Windows 7 Constantly hangs but mouse still moves

Hi,

So just today I started having problems with my 1 year old Lenovo V570.
As soon as I log in, every minute or two, Windows will just kind of freeze up - the web browser will stop dead in it's tracks, and I basically cannot make any interactions on the computer; I can't close any open windows, or even interact with the taskbar. It's as if someone pressed the pause button on the monitor, but the mouse and it's animations still work fine. Sometimes, though, only the taskbar will freeze up.

EDIT: Also, the computer will not load any websites except for google-hosted websites.

The specifications as I know them are as follows:
Core i5-2410M @ 2.30 GHz (I installed ThrottleStop, but I can't tell if it's running or not)
Intel HD Graphics 3000
6GB of memory
64 Bit Windows 7 Home Premium

I have already run virus scans, sfc /scannow in cmd, and chkdsk from command prompt as well. I have also restored my BIOS to it's original settings. I sadly neglected to set up any means of a backup, so I cannot roll back to previous versions.

I haven't found any solutions yet, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Installing diagnostic programs would be a pain, but if it is necessary, I will do it.

Thank you very much in advance for any help you can give me!

Sort of sounds like malware or maybe a DRAM problem, would run MalWare Bytes and see if anything found first

    Hi Tradesman,

Thanks for the help! Actually though, in my case, it turned out to be Bitdefender Free Antivirus which was causing the problem. I removed it and the problem disappeared.

    Thanks for helping, though!
