Just upgraded my radeon hd 6870 to a gigabyte HD 7950 on a MSI 890FXA-GD70 MB. Started hanging on the 'Starting Windows' screen so thought it was a driver problem. Switched back to old card removed all old AMD Catalyst drivers, even flashed MB with new BIOS but to no avail. Old card still works but new HD 7950 still hangs on 'Starting Windows' Corsair TX750 PSU. Any help would be appreciated i'm dying here.

Solution
Yeah,sry i forgot it require a 8-pin and a 6-pin connector.
If your board works with the old card, then your hd7950 could be faulty.
Before sending it for RMA just check it with another mobo.

Yeah, one of them is actually the 8-pin power connector, card seems to have seated fine, and i haven't checked with another board. an update however:

tried to boot into safe mode just to see if it could get in with limited set of drivers but it fails and hangs on loading classpnp.sys. looked up that issue and people are saying that it's a hardware connectivity issue. since i know hd 7950 is compatible with my board, board works with older card even now, i feel like i have to conclude that i just got a busted hd 7950. what do you think?
