Hi guys,
I want to build the following system:

Asus p8h77i
I3 3240
8gb ddr3 ram 1600mhz
1 western digital 500gb hdd
Nvidia gtx 760...

Is this system balanced?
What psu would you recommend?

I was thinking about the be quiet system power 7 500w... would it be enough?

Considering the lower price for the IB i3's now that haswell i3s are out and are kinda overpriced and also considering there isn't much of a gain at the same clock speeds, i'm opting for IB

be quiet are a quality brand , and 500 watt should be fine for that build

A build based on AMD's FX 6300 and a mb with a 970 series chipset will be similarly priced and will perform better in more recent games that can use multicore processors . [ but a little worse in older games ]

Thank you both.
The thing is I have a bitfenix prodigy and my only amd option would be a fm2 based system.

Are Ivy bridge i3 overclockable by increasing the FSB? If so the 3220 is even cheaper for just 100mhz less. I wonder if overclocking is even necessary at this point.

The 3220 can only be overclocked using the base clock BCLK. That wont get you very far because everything else will overclock with it. You might get it to 3.4ghz with that.

I would recommend a i5 because they are really a lot faster than a dual core i3 and the i3 will be outdated immediately when you buy it...
i5 should last you at least 3 years. Alternatively you might want to replace your restricting component (bitfenix prodigy) and get an AMD quad core CPU like I mentioned above.

That would be an alternative, but it'd bother me to replace the Prodigy... it cost me about 80 euros...

What about the i5 4430? It's the cheapest of the line... how better is it than any top line i3?
