Multiple USB 3.0 ports unusable

Hello,
I'm having a problem regarding my USB 3.0 ports on my motherboard.
They seemed to work properly for the first few hours but would suddenly stop working. Re-plugging the device does not do anything, and they work again after I restarted the PC, with the same problem recurring.

After installing a few drivers from the mobo's website and updating Intel's USB 3.0 controller, the ports are now just unusable. It detects devices but registers it as unknown.

USB 2.0 on the mobo and the front USB 3.0 ports work as intended.

The unknown devices plugged in were a Razer mouse and an Xbox360 controller (not shown here; detected but disabled due to power failure error). Both work properly on another PC running W7.
I don't use any external USB 3.0 hubs nor PCI USB ports, just the front one provided from the case.

Does it have anything to do with the multiple USB host controllers I have in the device manager?

Specs:
Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Motherboard
Windows 8 64bit

Thanks in advance.

So I tested the ports again.
It would detect storage devices and they function properly, but not I/O devices, it always says to try reconnecting the device.

Any idea what happened and how to fix this?

[strike]CMOS reset seems to be an overkill solution, I've done a bit of reading about it and all of them relates only to accidents in overclocking.
But thanks for the reply, I'll try that.[/strike]

UPDATE: [strike]Did the CMOS Reset and the ports are working again.[/strike] Thanks MasterBios!
UPDATE 2: The same problem occurs again, now the VIA USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0096 (Microsoft) says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
Do I remove one of the USB controllers or what?

these steps mentioned below to uninstall and reinstall the USB drivers.
a) Press windows + R key from the keyboard.
b) Type devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
c) Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
d) Right-click the device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove it.
e) Restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB controller.

Firmware update solves problem on my computer too.
