Hi everyone, I just registered to this forum this morning - but I have used TomsHardware as a reference for system builds and recent info since 2011. I have never had a problem I couldn't track down until recently, and hope the community can help!

I searched the threads for my mobo/ram/graphics combo, but have yet to find a match other than people that cant POST - which my system can. I cant seem to run the system stable past ~15 minutes when in-game, but I can boot windows, run programs/browsers for days. The current games I have run are Crysis 3, BioShock Infinite, Mass Effect 3, and Skyrim. All games will randomly crash to windows, crash to blue screen, or lock up with no CTRL+ALT+DEL capability (must manually reset) after 15-30 minutes of play. All games look incredible with the new video card, but don't last long enough to get through a multiplayer round or two.

Current build from 2011:

ASUS P8P67 PRO <REV 3.0> LGA 1155 SATA 6Gbps
i5-2500k 3.3ghz 6mb cache
Cooler Master Hyper212 Plus, Arctic Silver 5 compound
G.Skill F3-10666CL7D-8GBXH 8GB DDR3 PC3-10666 RipjawsX Series for Sandy Bridge (7-7-7-21) Dual Channel kit
OCZ 80GB Vertex2 SATA II SSD
Corsair Enthusiast 650W 80Plus Bronze 650TX v2
Win7 Pro x64 System Builder, SP1

OC profile has never been able to push past 3.4GHz with this setup, running through tutorials on YouTube and TomsHardware. I have also tried a second i5-2500k chip, with the same results.

Recently added in 2013:

GIGABYTE GV-R795WF3-3GD Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16

Have tried both Catalyst 13.4 and 13.10 Beta (currently running beta). Using factory settings, no OC.

Can someone please assist me with some steps to track down this problem?

Thank you!

Only thing that comes to mind is I had a slightly similar issue. At the time I had a P55 Gigabyte board and the i5 750. Both my old and your board are PCIe 2.0. (I also have a Gigabyte 7950 GPU.) While I could game for longer then you, at least once a day I would have my monitors go black requiring me to reboot. I'd also blue screen, lock up, or have random things happen. At least once every day. The problem went away when I upgraded to my current 3570k and Z77X board. (PCIe 3.0.) Try looking for a bios update which is something I didn't do, but I suspect there is an issue with (some?) 7950s (or more) GPUs and PCIe 2.0 boards. Bios updates are supposed to fix any issues so check there first. I didn't bother because I knew I...

Thank you for the input.

My current BIOS is the latest 3602, which I have been running for about six months. I have tried multiple settings from EZ to Advanced with a YouTube tutorial and some forums breakdowns of all commands to be inputted. BIOS will restart two or three times typically, and after no POST it will post with 3.4GHz. This is the max my system would run at any given point, although many users have been able to hit 4.3GHz with no problems.
