Hi, I currently have an old, but nice Gateway FHD2400 monitor wall mounted in my kitchen that I would like to upgrade to a 27. We use it for computer stuff - surfing, Facebook, photo editing, etc... and watching TV with Media Center. PC about 70% - TV movies about 30%.

I want larger - and I think a 27 or so is the right size. I am stumped when it comes to resolution - 1920 X 1080? For TV I know it is fine but what about day to day computing? 2560 X 1440 for desktop use sound fine but what would TV look like?

2560 Monitors are big $$ as well. I see a bunch of 27 TVs that are 1080P with fast refresh rates.... UGH. 32" TVs are about he same money as 27"....

Does anyone have a recommendation? It must have speakers and be wall mountable.

Thanks in advance to any & all help.

Day to day computing...1920x1080 is enough. The 1440p is really for editors..photoshop and whatnot. Otherwise stick to a 1920x1080. As you know, tv and movies don't exceed 1080p so why get it for your use?

If you want an amazing 27" monitor then grab a Dell Ultrasharp. It is the best for photoshop work cuz color accuracy is amazing.

It doesn't have speakers though. Usually monitor speakers are absolutely crap.

If you want speakers:
