Hello i am planning on building up a computer to be used as a render farm using old parts from my old PC's i have a i7 3.2Ghz (i think) and a GTX 470 GPU, and was wondering if a 400 Watt PSU would suffice, i know that the 470 needs a minimum of 550 watts but i don't plan on using the GPU much and simply there because i need one for the PC to work. I'd prefer not to spend any money on this old PC as it simply a little project i can do to pass the time.

And if the answer is no then could anyone recommend me a PSU thats cheap but safe (as it could be on for days at a time) and available in the UK.

I suggest getting a decent psu XFX550-650. You can keep it if you upgrade the rest of your computer. Good quality - made by Seasonic.

If you use the old one you risk destroying your other parts.
