select & paste text: internet explorer

Unable to select or highlight text off Internet explorer 10 so that i can copy it. Drag, drop and copy is enabled.

If highlight and copy is working in other progs, try Restoring Advanced Settings or Reset Internet Explorer.
Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Restore or Reset

Well, can't re-install Internet Explorer, so next logical step would be to try Windows Refresh
At your Start Screen type 'Refresh' and from Settings choose Refresh your PC'. Note, any additional software installed by you will be uninstalled... and if that fails it will have to be full Reset...

I can use ctrl or shift, place the mouse and it will copy the paragraph.

Puzzling. Without holding down shift or Ctrl, does the mouse pointer change from a Pointer (Arrow) to a cursor when placed over text?

I think it has something to do with your Caps Lock sticking down, upper case affects highlighting..

I found going to tools\manage add-ons and disabling the add on XML HTTP 3.0 worked for me (I don't know what other effects disabling this might have though but I haven't noticed anything)

Press the ALT key to bring up the menu if it is not already displayed. Click on View / Panning hand, if that is checked, uncheck it you will be able to highlight and select text.
