2 Different model Graphics cards in one computer

Basically my gtx 570 hd by evga only supports 2 displays at a time and i would really like my tv to be plugged in as well as my 2 monitors could i get a pci-e x1 card ( only one x16 slot) and use it for my other display. also does it have to be by nvidia or can it be from any manufacturer

You certainly can. I would go ahead and get another nVidia card to alleviate possible driver issues, you can run AMD, but need to run both drivers, and I've heard of issues doing that.
