Games keep crashing computer

I've had my computer for years now, and recently (last 2 weeks) it's been crashing whenever I open a game.

I play TF2, Minecraft, LoL, Natural Selection 2
Every time I play them, I have it open for about 3 minutes, and it crashes.

No warning, no dropping FPS, no blue screen, no rise in CPU. (I constantly check Speccy and Task Manager) it just randomly closes. The screen dies, my computer immediately shuts down (none of that shutting down.... stuff) and I have to press the power button again.

My computer temperature's all at around 50+ degrees.

I also used WhoCrashed to check what was crashing me, it didn't pick anything up.

(Every time it crashes, there's a little *pop* like when you force shutdown a computer by holding the powerbutton)

My computer's specs:

Name: Lenovo-Y480
CPU: GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz Intel586, level: 6
RAM: 6 GB
OS: Windows 8 pro

I don't have any weird software installed. I tried re-installing my games, didn't work. I reset to factory default, didn't work.

Help? Thanks.

P.S. if this isn't in the right category, I'm sorry

Solution

OK then, It apparently wasn't the reinstallation that caused the issue.

That might point to a hardware issue. Dust/heat (GPU), or something not working right.

I've tried dusting it before, and Speccy tells me that my temperature stays under 70 degrees Celsius. As for malware, I just reset my computer, there shouldn't be any viruses on it at all.

Well...if this hardware worked before with those games, and you changed something (reset?), then something is not the same as it was before.

What do you mean by different?

As for the furmark thing, I've switched from VGA to HDMI. (I don't really understand GPU)

Open up the notebook and check the heatsink attached to the GPU and CPU. It may be loose and not providing adequate heat transfer/cooling, causing your system to overheat and shutdown.

If that isn't the issue, check the power. Make sure you're using the stock power adapter as an aftermarket one might not be providing enough wattage. Also, if you've been connecting your power adapter directly to the outlet without a surge protector, dirty power may have damaged the circuitry inside of your computer already.

I haven't really messed with the hardware since I bought it. I have a surge protector, and even a back up battery. My CPU's at around 50-60 when playing Minecraft, etc.
The cooling, should be fine since I can still feel wind coming out the vents.

It used to work.
You changed something (reset?)
Now it doesn't work right.

Ergo...something you did is not quite right.

But just because air is coming out of the vent does not automatically mean 'cooling' is actually happening.

Yes, it's worked perfectly fine since recently. I reset everything and it still doesn't work.

As for my graphics cards, I've updated both graphics cards before. Updates weren't the problem...

(I've disabled my intel graphics card, and trying to see if it crashes on League of Legends)

Was it screwing up before or after the 'reset'?

Both. It started crashing about 5 days before I decided to reset. After I reset it continued to crash.

I checked all my hardware, there's nothing not completely plugged in, and I checked all the temperatures, there's nothing that could cause it to overheat?
