Hello:

My wife is a teacher (Canada) and she's very upset because, over summer, her computer & monitor were changed, and now the image from the projector doesn't look good anymore, the letters are too small and fuzzy and cannot be distinguished by the students in the back rows.

Here are the details:

1. The computer is a Lenovo desktop with one video card (Intel). There is a VGA split cable, with one end of the split going to the monitor and the other one going to the projector
2. The monitor is an LG wide display with the native resolution of 1920x1080 (don't know exactly the model). The monitor cannot display any other resolution, in other words the screen becomes blank (black) if I change the resolution to anything but 1920x1080.
3. The projector is a BENQ MS510. It's native resolution is 1024x768.
4. From her desk, my wife cannot see the projector screen, so it is very important that the screen and the projector show the same thing. She cannot use the projector as her main display. She has to look at the monitor.
5. Before this monitor, I believe she had a 17" or 19" monitor and the projector display looked much better (I don't know the previous resolution).
6. Getting another monitor from school would take months. She said that if she made a request now she might get a new one in January and even then she's not sure she'll get the right thing. So, basically we are on our own and I am willing to spend my own money to solve this (provided that the solution is not too expensive).

So, what are my options to fix this?

I thought of this:
1. Buy a 17" or 19" (non wide display) monitor that has a resolution more compatible with the one of the projector.

Any other ideas? I know there are some special display adapters but I don't know how they work.

Thank you

There are a lot of different ways you can manipulate the 3 displays your working with. The first step I would take is to check your computer's resolution that its displaying. You can do this by Right-clicking on the desktop screen then select "Properties". A new window will appear with different setting parameters. Next, select the tab labeled "Settings". The computer's screen resolution can be viewed here or changed to fit your needs. Then start your projector, locate the projector's Image/Display settings under the Menu. Look for a resolution parameter under the Image/Display window. *Note: Try changing the Aspect ratio also, this may help format the overall screen to match a wide display signal, 4:3, 16:9, etc... At this point you should have at least your projector and computer completely mirroring each others display. When it comes to your LG monitor screen, following similar steps locate your display setting in the Menu and search for an option to change the resolution that your monitor will display. After this, there should not be any issues viewing and matching the display from the source. Please let me know if i could be of any further assistance, glad to help.
