I'm getting kinda wacky here, but...

Is it possible to somehow trace the reason that an application opens? In other words, can I somehow find out why a certain program just spontaneously opens all by itself, and, in the process, find it's folder/file of origin?

You might have noticed that I'm a bit desperate... see here.

If I was just rid of that darned thing, my system would be as good as new (maybe better than new... I really cleaned it up with these last few scans).

So, again... help!

Welcome to the world of malware. Couple suggestions: download and run both malwarebytes and ccleaner. You may also want to check for run or runonce entries in the register See explantion HERE.

Well, it's not really malware; it's more like adware. It's just an annoying ad that I can't seem to get rid of.

And as for reloading Windows... that would be too much of a hassle to be worth it. Once again, it's just this one problem... and I've mostly narrowed it down. I think.

Thanks for that referral, though. Will try it out ASAP.
