Ok, so I am a comedian (aka not a computer person) who filmed a pilot on a Connon T2i. I now need to edit said pilot, but have an old slow computer that's probably not capable of running Adobe Premiere or even a newer version of Power Director.

Among my assets are:

- A computer - Intel Pentium 4 , 2.8 Ghz, 2GB of Ram, 32-bit system with a Radeon 7000 series graphics card.

- A $300 budget.

What do I do computer people? I'm open to all options provided they are within my capabilitites and no animals are harmed.

After fees and tax this will be way over my budget. What if I was to buy a PC on Craigslist then upgrade the graphics card. Would that be enough?

Don't worry this is the final price :). Also buying a pc on craigslist usually isn't worth it.

No it isn't, and it includes mail in rebates, etc... Maybe I'll get a $200 computer from Best Buy and upgrade the video card... or just use what I have and run an older version of the video editing software.

Thanks for trying!

Well honestly pretty much everyone here uses mail in rebates because they save you a lot of money. Just saying ig you buy a $200 one from bestbuy you can make one with performance 2x better, and it uses quality parts instead of having everything made from China.

Wait a second... isn't video editing highly CPU dependent?

If so wouldn't something like a used phenom ii x6 or an fx6300 be way better? If so, I recommend ghettofabbing a PC together with a cheap AM3+ microATX motherboard and fx6300 by reusing your current case since it's either ATX or micro ATX. Then buy a used HDD on ebay for $20 and only buy 4 GB of RAM if you are running 32 bit XP.

I think that might be a better overall way for you to go although I'll defer to the video editors for confirmation.
