I just installed some new hardware on a pc, a new mobo and CPU. I have a hard drive that was wiped clean, and the hard drive used to have windows vista on it. However, I wiped the hard drive so I can load Windows 7 on it instead. I downloaded the necessary files onto a usb, plugged it into the PC, boot it up and I set it so it boots up from my USB. When it boots, I get an error telling me BOOTMGR is missing..

Any ideas on how to fix this issue? I don't have any original discs for vista or windows 7, can I fix this issue by downloading any files onto the USB?

Solution
you cant just download the files onto a usb.you have to make a bootable usb with the files.there are several tools to do this.check out this link.

Alrighty, so I've created a bootable usb, I plug it in to my other computer and the windows files boot up. It prompts me to select a hard drive to install windows on... I select the desired hard drive. It says the hard drive has 596.1 GB free space, and the downloaded file requires 596.1 GB of free space to install it. I click next, but it tells me there is not enough free space. How is it possible that 596.1 GB is not enough free space? Anyone have any insight on this error?

Update, I deleted the partition I think it was, and was able to install windows onto my hard drive. After all its done copying all of the files, it restarts. After restart, it's like it's back to step 1... and it tells me to click install now again for windows and it's like I'm having to do the install all over again...

I downloaded it directly from the microsoft store, I downloaded the windows 32 bit iso file. I managed to download it, but like I said in my previous post it restarts my computer then acts as if it didnt install and asks me to install again.
