TLDR; i5/i7 vs 6300 for boring stuff (mostly programming). Would paying premium for an i5 or even i7 even provide a benefit over a 6300?

I see so many threads about "what is best for gaming?" but I haven't really come across any threads that don't ask about gaming at all, so here it is. I'm building my first computer soon, but I have a dilemma. I'm not sharply divided on Intel vs AMD, but here is my question; I don't really play games, I do boring stuff. I just started programming. Development Environments, virtualization etc. So I want to know which CPU is best for multitasking. My budget is; $300 max, AMD FX 6300 min. I'm quite aware of the differences between Intel and AMD, but would paying premium for an i5 or even i7 even provide a benefit over a 6300 in this case?

Solution
nope. save your cash, get the fx6300. if you want even bump it up to the 8320, and give yourself 8 cores to play with. nothing you're doing will give you any different experience on an AMD you wouldn't get on an Intel.
