Hi guys first time posting on a forum. I bought a wd green caviar wd10ezrx HDD i plug it into my sata power header and it wont spin up with the rest of my computer when its turned on. I have tried with power headers that my (working) HDD and dvd drive have been using but nothing has come of it. The HDD works perfectly on my fathers computer. Any constructive input would be helpful.

Does it spin up if you reduce the SATA link speed by installing the drive's OPT1 jumper?

Is the drive configured to Power Up In Standby (PUIS)? Has a PM2 jumper been installed?

A drive that has powered up in standby can be spun up simply by sending a read or write command to it, or by way of a particular ATA Set Features subcommand. Obviously that's not the problem in your case.

The specs for your motherboard indicate that your southbridge is an AMD SB950. You might like to research detection issues related to this chipset and WD drives.
