Hi there,
I have an Acer Aspire laptop that runs on Windows 7. Last week it had a system restore, and then was updated with all of the windows updates, a few pieces of software downloaded, (i.e ITunes, Steam, Chrome, the usual stuff). A few days ago it had to go into a startup recovery in which it found nothing, so I restarted it and it worked fine. The day after however, it went to the option to start windows normally or run a startup recovery. Upon selecting the recover option, it takes a while to load and then it goes to the blue windows background and no recovery window pops up, so I am unable to do anything. Upon getting it to boot up normally, it just goes to the windows loading screen, a blue screen with what appears to be text flashes on for a fraction of a second and then takes me back to the normal/recover menu. I am unable to do anything and have finally organised the filing on my laptop so could someone suggest a way for me to fix this and keep the files on the HDD.
Thanks in advance!

I would probably try to re-seat the ram. After that your other option is to try the hard drive in another system to pull the files off before replacing it.
