Hi all. I'm a bit unsure where to post this as I might change the build completely depending on your feedback.

I'm trying to build a new PC. It will be used primarily for High end Gaming. But I'm also going to use it for 3Ds Max. (modelling, rendering etc.)

I'd like to be able to run games like:
DayZ Arma2/Arma3, Total War, Skyrim, Farcry3, BF3/4, GTA5, TESonline - and practically any current and upcoming FPS / MMORPG's on Maximum settings.

The optimal thing would be 2 computers. A Gamer rig and a Workstation - but I don't have that kind of money.

So I wanna try and combine the best from both worlds into one build.
(if possible)

(I've been away from 3dsmax for about 12 years - So for now, 3dsmax will stay a hobby)

The gfx Card fried on the old PC, but I'll be using the Screen (1920 x 1200), Keyboard, Mouse and HDD from it - so that should be covered for now.
-----------------------------------------------

Is this an optimal build? Any bottlenecks?

Any help/adjustments is appreciated really.

Maybe an AMD build would be better?

MOBO:
Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H - Rev. 1.0

CPU:
Core i7 I7-4770K 8 MB (Intel Boxed)

CPU COOLER:
NZXT Kraken X60

GPU:
eVGA GeForce GTX TITAN Superclocked (6 GB)

RAM:
2x8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport XT DDR3-1866 CL10

PSU:
Corsair AX860i

SSD:
Samsung 840 EVO MZ-7TE120 120 GB (for OS / Games / Applications – I’ll buy 1 more later btw)

CASE:
NZXT Phantom 410

OS:
WIN 7 (64 bit)

--------------------------------------------------------
This will be about 2.800 USD (1.800GBP) when I convert it from my local currency DKK (Denmark)
This is absolute maximum btw.

2.300 USD (1.500 GBP) was the original budget, but if this^ build works, I'm buying it.

I know a GTX TITAN won't perform near a good Workstation card, but it should work OK.
(or at least I assume ^ Please do correct me if I'm wrong)

Less expensive cards in SLI could do better in games, but then I wouldn't have the 6GB VRAM for 3dsmax - which is why I picked the Titan (to get the best from both worlds)

If you have an idea for a better build (High end Gaming/3DsMax workstation) for around 2.500 USD (1.500GBP), please do tell.

Approximate Purchase Date: This month.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, 3DsMax (modelling, rendering etc).

Are you buying a monitor: Not now, but in a year or 2 perhaps.

Do you need to buy OS: No.

Overclocking: Yes, but prolly only later as the system ages.

SLI or Crossfire: The plan is to buy another GTX TITAN in about 2 years from now and then SLI them, to keep up.

Help a n00b out here :thumb:

Thanks in advance.

i have no idea what you guys have in denmark but ill throw out some suggestions

-if there is a z87x-d3h avaliable for cheaper, get that instead. the only difference between the ud3h and the d3h is the ud3h as extra sata ports which you wont need
-get a heatsink such as a d14 from noctua or the tc14pe from phanteks if you have that. whichever one is cheaper. if you want liquid, get a h220 from swiftech. nothing else is built properly if you want to go the liquid route
-get the cheapest 120 or 128gb sata 6gbps SSD. no reason to spend more when there is no benefit in speed in real life. brands id recommend are adata, crucial, mushkin, sandisk, and plextor.
-grab the cheapest 2x8gb 1600-1866 cl10 or 9 kit of ram you can find. no difference between brands
-get a xfx 850w psu. they are cheaper for the same thing. dont get platinum or gold psus unless they are cheaper than the others
-get a 780 with a good aftermarket cooler. the aftermarket cooled 780s out of the box perform better than a titan. generally speaking, a gaming card will perform the same as the workstation counterpart if the work you are doing does not require double percision compute. if that is the case, id highly suggest getting something like a quadro k2000 or k4000. if 3dsmax supports and utilizes openCL and GL, get a firepro w7000 or 8000
-get a better case such as a fractal arc midi r2 or a define r4.

a titan is a definite no. those are a waste of time
