Which upgrade from GTX 580?

Hello!

Does anyone know of a great upgrade if I'm going to upgrade my Gigabyte GTX 580 graphics card? It's been acting very unstable lately with tons of crashes due to too low voltage (which I fixed by using MSI Afterburner), but now it cannot handle the increased heat output from the higher voltage, unfortunately.

So I'd like to make an upgrade, but wanted to ask if anyone could shed some light on which way to go?

I know there's been tons of hardware releases the past 2-4 years, so I'm very much behind on what cards are really good right now.

I'm aiming for a best value-for-money card at approximately ~$4-500.

Also, the size specs of the old Gigabyte card I have right now are important since the case can just barely fit my current card into the machinery.

So, any suggestions or ideas for a great alternative?

My current card specs: http://

Thank you!

What are the system specs? Please include the monitor/s resolution.

Most logical replacement would be the GTX760 but do not discount the older GTX 660Ti/GTX670, they're fine cards-at the right price-and some e-tailers are discounting them.
As has already been said, the GTX770 is THE upgrade choice.
Don't forget AMD, the HD7950 and HD7970 are also contenders and both will come with a collection of game download codes-which may, or may not, be of interest.

I have a GTX 580, which is just under a GTX 660 Ti. Personally, I would go for the GTX 780 as an upgrade you'll really be able to feel. The 780 also matches up better with the GTX 580 in terms of memory bandwidth and compute performance. If you can't afford that, then the GTX 770 will certainly be a very nice boost of about 25%-30%.

I'd take a look at the Asus GTX 770 DirectCU OC or the MSI GTX 770 Gaming Edition.

Board: Gigabyte MB1155 GA-P67A-UD3-B3
CPU: Intel i7-2600K @ 3.70 GHz
RAM: 4 x 4 GB Kingston Hyper-X DDR3 (it says DDR3-1600 on my old invoice)
PSU: Seasonic 750W 80+
CASE: Vision Unicorn Silent Miditower (in case someone wants to know its dimension specs)
Monitor: Dell UltraSharp 27" (I'm using it at 2560 x 1440)

the gtx780 is your best bet and you should wait until amd releases their new cards at the end of this month. prices are going to fall dramatically like they always do, the 780 will end up in the $549 range. right now the prices are jacked because of the new consoles coming out and nvidia having no competition from amd at the moment.

any other card, even a 680/770 i just dont think is worth the upgrade for a 580, for the price i feel its too small of a jump, especially if you can hold out the the inevitable price drops.

I would get 2 760 and sli them. You can get faster performance then a 780, and it will easily power a 1440p monitor.

See the 760 sli beating a titan: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_760_sli_review,18.html

I own a gtx 770 and really couldnt reccomend any geforce card at the moment.like one said wait till the end of the month for the new ati cards or if you canott wait get a 7950 over the gtx 760 more vram and 384 bus also you can find a 7950 for $200 .I would also go with a 7970 over a gtx 770 $300 for a 7970 and its pretty equal in performance to a gtx 770 with a slight overclock

Good, solid specs, no problems there!
Don't think you'll have any problems with a new card, the GTX580 is 28cm long (or 11" to you US citizens) and all the cards so far mentioned are shorter.
Right now the GTX780 would be the best choice, it just does so much better at your resolution but it's way out of budget.
Which leaves the GTX770. At 1080 rez 2Gb of memory would be enough, but given the high monitor resolution I'll suggest you look at the 4Gb cards.
Or you could consider the HD7970 which carries 3Gb of memory and has a nice little bundle of game codes.
Both GTX770 and HD7970 (GHz edition) perform similarly and are available across a similar price spread.
If you can wait, then wait, but don't expect any sudden, dramatic, price changes, AMD have been pushing the 7xxx series hard for months and Nvidia released their 7xx series at near suicidal price points, undercutting their own competing 6xx cards on release.

2 x 760's in SLI would also mean a massive boost in power consumption, and when you live in a country with ridiculously high electricity bills, it's a definite no-go. Bear in mind that, for instance, a single 770 would provide a solid performance in most games (even at high settings) with my current specs, it would only be outweighed by SLI performance at the cost of a large TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) increasement.

Thanks, though! :)

PS: A single, solid card is more than enough. I've always thought that the extra SLI performance never really outweighs the returning costs of power consumption.

UPDATED: After reviewing your attached link, the power consumption difference between 1 GTx 580 and 2 760 isn't really that big, truth be told. That makes my argument stand a little vague. Thanks, I might even consider this option.

If you can hold out and save up for 500 more I would definetely go with either 770 SC ACX SLI or 780 SLI and some water cooling if you don't have that already.
But if you want great performance right now I would definetely go for a 760 SLI mainly because those 2 fit like a glove and the 760 stays between 25-30 degrees even when running high performance games unlike the 770 without ACX.
It also really depends on how much space your mobo has for video cards,if your mobo can handle 3-4 way SLI I would probably go with the 760
But if it can't handle so many video cards I would probably go for the 770 or the 780.
Here is an example
2 way SLI max: Gtx 760
3 way SLI max: 770 (If you want to go 3-way/4-way you need to upgrade your PSU to 950TX for a 3-way SLI and 1050TX for a 4-way SLI
4 way SLI max: 760/770/780 depends on how much power your mobo can take and you will need a strong PSU of atleast 1050TX.

But seeing your PSU I would say 2 way SLI max seeing that 3 video cards suck ALOT of power, especially 780s.

Seeing your monitor resolution, go for a 3Gb SLI or if you don't want to crossfire your PC take go for a 4Gb card.

x4 means you will be crippling the 2nd card in this case you may want to go to 1 gtx 770 or 780 you wont see much of an increase with 1 760

Like I said your PSU is too weak for 770/780 SLI
Get 850TX for 760 SLI and 770 SLI
760 SLI would make your PC fall out when running heavy games because your PSU is not enough

lol were did 770/780 sli come from???? I suggested 760 sli, and the OP asked if his psu is enough for a 770/780 (NONSLI).

Also as someone mentioned, you mobo is not very good for sli/CF, so your best bet is a single card. (2nd pcie is x4 instead of x8/x16)

Wait and see if 780 prices drop and if they do, grab one!, if not, a 770 is good enough, just get a 4gb one. Also, yes you psu and your mobo and everything will support a SINGLE 780/770.

nothing overheating he has been running stable for over a month.Im just saying a good quality 750 can handle it but like i said i agree with the 850 minimum

Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

•GeForce GTX 770 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 550 Watt power supply unit.
•GeForce GTX 770 2x SLI - On your average system the cards require you to have a 700~800 Watt power supply unit as minimum.
•GeForce GTX 770 3x SLI - On your average system the cards require you to have a 1000~1200 Watt power supply unit as minimum.
