My mobo is MSI g41m-p28 heres the specs: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/G41M-P28.html#/?div=Basic

as you can see its only pcie 1.0 (correct me if I'm wrong)and I'm going to buy a Powercolor Radeon HD 6670 which is a pcie 2.1.. I read some topics online and some say 2.1 cards have a 50/50 chance working on a pcie 1.0 depending on the mobo, is this true? do you think my mobo can handle the 6670 without any problems? or I should just stick to 2.0 cards just to be safe? I'm going to buy the graphics card on Tuesday, Any help will be appreciated. thanks!

Solution
The G41 chipset supports PCI-E 1.1 (http://ark.intel.com/products/36528/82G41-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller-Hub) so there should be no problem.
I have an Asrock G41 board and use a 6670 no problem

It should work it just won't be overly awesome! I've never experienced any problems using newer cards on older gen PCI-E just get slightly slower data than the newer gen would get. nothing much to worry about

Thanks for the fast reply people I appreciate it. I'm going to update the BIOS now. The latest update is 2012-12-10. I found a review on cnet about this board it seems he can use a 6770 on this board which is a 2.1 pcie card. I'm going to report back if my 6670 works as soon as i can test it. Wish me luck!:D
